From July 31 to August 2, 2026, Baška on the southern part of the island of Krk will once again host one of the oldest and most popular summer events in the Kvarner region – the Fishermen’s Days.
The event, held in the Palada area and along Baška’s picturesque coastline, has for more than a century connected locals and visitors through rich fishing heritage, music, gastronomy and numerous activities for all generations.
Tradition dating back to 1910
Fishermen’s Days are not only summer entertainment but an important part of Baška’s identity. Their beginnings date back to 1910, when locals competed in traditional fishing net hauling onto the shore.
From these humble beginnings, one of the most recognizable island events developed, still preserving the memory of times when fishing was the foundation of life in Baška.
Although Baška is today a modern tourist destination, it remains closely connected to the sea, and Fishermen’s Days offer insight into the lives of earlier fishing generations.
When Baška comes alive in a fishing spirit
During the event, the town transforms into a maritime setting filled with music, the scent of seafood specialties and social gatherings.
The program includes:
- cultural and folklore performances
- sports and social competitions
- gastronomy
- educational and family activities
A special highlight is the parade of fishermen and locals towards Vela plaža, where a traditional demonstration of pulling fishing nets from the sea takes place.
